Tech A 2024-07-09 18:24

Tech B 2024-07-09 18:27

Tech B 2024-07-09 19:03
Just changed DNS again and looks like its recognizing the pc on the network. but I did it before so Im not quite sure what could be causing the issue.

The left pane shows a Windows Command Prompt with `arp -a` output listing the interface as **192.168.1.115**, followed by a successful `ping 192.168.1.109` with replies showing **32 bytes**, TTL=128, and response times of 4ms, 3ms, 3ms, and 5ms. The right pane displays an IP scanner (Advanced IP Scanner or similar) scanning range **192.168.1.0–192.168.1.255**, with identified hosts including **192.168.1.109 labeled "SERVER-PC"**, **192.168.1.106 "FRONT01"**, **192.168.1.107 "PVT"**, and others; a red arrow annotation points to **192.168.1.109**. Entry **192.168.1.110** shows a question mark icon, indicating it returned a response but has no resolved hostname, with a response time of **7ms**.

**Windows Network Configuration – TCP/IPv4 DNS Settings** The screenshot shows a Windows Network and Sharing Center with an open **Wi-Fi Properties** dialog for a **Qualcomm QCA9377 802.11ac Wireless Adapter** on network **"FAZEKAS DMD 3"** (Private network, Internet access). The **Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties** panel is open, showing **"Obtain an IP address automatically"** selected, with **"Use the following DNS server addresses"** manually configured: **Preferred DNS: 192.168.1.109**, **Alternate DNS: 1.1.1.1**. Checked networking components include: Client for Microsoft Networks, File and Printer Sharing, QoS Packet Scheduler, TCP/IPv4, and Microsoft LLDP Protocol Driver; **TCP/IPv6 and Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Protocol are unchecked**.
Tech D 2024-07-09 19:56

The left pane shows a Windows command prompt with an ARP table for interface 192.168.1.115 and a successful ping to 192.168.1.109 (32 bytes, TTL=128, response times 3–5ms). The right pane shows an IP scanner (likely Angry IP Scanner) scanning range 192.168.1.0–255, with a red arrow pointing to 192.168.1.109 labeled "SERVER-PC," and 192.168.1.110 flagged with a question mark indicating an unresolved/unknown host. Additional identified hosts include HYGLAPTOP, FRONT01, PVT, OP1, OP2, and BLX2020W42A245, with response times ranging from 0ms to 302ms.
Tech D 2024-07-09 19:57
and? what does it mean?
Tech B 2024-07-09 19:59
you got me on that one, not sure what do you mean.
Tech D 2024-07-09 20:01
Chris, this is the workgroup environment and the server-pc does not host the DNS roles. by default the DNS server on the workgroup environment is the router. So, the correct settings in this case would be either to obtain DNS server setting automatically or point the primary to the router and secondary to the outside DNS like 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 / 4.2.2.2 /1.1.1.1 etc
